A şemse form, the central sun-medallion of a manuscript page, carried on a single hairline stem. The indigo ground is cut through with pale rumi scrollwork and holds a coral penç at its centre.

The composition keeps a strict vertical axis, the way an illuminated folio holds its text block. Everything else, the lobes of the medallion, the leaves that split and return, is built out from that one line.
